Hello everyone,

41yo amateur mechanic, professional IT guy here. I have had several MB over the years and have always been hamstrung by not having a proper SDS setup. Finally found an affordable C4 SDS DOIP that's probably a clone on eBay. I've set up a fresh Win10 ThinkPad 11th gen I7 with an RJ45, and have already found a IP config setup for the DOIP (MUX gets here tomorrow).

After enough searching I found GarageForum to be the place to donate to. Ultimately I plan on installing what seems to be the best choice of software for my hardware: Xentry OpenShell of a 2018 flavor. Currently rocking a 1997 SL500, 2000 C230K, and might buy a 2005 C230K this weekend with an EIS issue. Looking to diagnose a bit better and also disable the immobilizers on all, neutral rev limits (converting the C to a manual) and a few other things.

Am I on track? If we can chat here great, otherwise I don't mind searching and then asking if I need any pointers. Usually pretty self sufficient at these sort of things tho. AI will help tremendously with the translation of engineering mode, I've already asked and GROK is well aware of the menu system in there.

Thanks in advance,
Kyle
