How to find engine vin number?

Hello to all.i am trying to find but I can't,a software that just indicates me where (in which place) the engine number of all cars is being located.Thanks for possible help.

7th and 8th number in your vin identify the engine type. You can also look for the decal on the timing cover. If it has peeled off the block itself is stamped right above the water pump.
