ET 2017A
Well I give up on Captain1 responding on 2018C -- I must not be as important as he is. So here is 2017A:

You should be able to get it at one of these.

The Readme is way out of date, so try this:

MUST be connected to the Cat interface and probably to a machine.

- Download and install WinRAR

- Install ET 2017A

- Copy over Comet and Flash files.
comet exe and cometdll.dll in the ET Files dir to (64bit OS)
C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Offboard Information Products\2017A\Comet
cometdll.dll and flashserver.dll in the ET Files dir to (64bit OS)
C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Offboard Information Products\2017A\Flash

- Create env variable in SYSTEM
Right-click Menu, System, Advanced, Env Variables, then in SYSTEM
CATLMD_LICENSE_FILE C:\FlexLM\License.dat

- Set ET shortcut to run by Admin
Right-click desktop icon, Compatibility, Admin

- Run NetworkSSID to get MAC of wifi interface.

- Run keygen.exe . Copy HardwareID then run keygen4keygen and paste in
HardwareID. Get Answer and paste into keygen. This makes keygen.key so
keygen will run.

- In keygen, set to Factory. Replace MAC and remove spaces

- Close NetworkSSID

- Run ET. Must do the next steps within two minutes of running ET:

- Copy the HardwareID from ET to keygen RequestCode.

- In keygen generate Answer.

- Copy KG\license.dat into C:\FlexLM\

- Copy the keygen Answer into ET key window. Code Accepted and ET finishes starting up.

- In ET Stop Connect until it's completely stopped.

- Hit Utilities|WinFlash. The license dialog will pop up again so paste the answer code and Ok.

- Close ET, go to desktop and right click ET shortcut then Properties,
Compatibility then uncheck run as administrator, apply and Ok.

I'm not here to provide support as this is not my stuff. Do the best you can.

RE: ET 2017A
For some reason, even though this is in Factory mode, it still asks for the factory password to change some settings, or to load the machine's as-built config file. Anyone understand why?

Is there some trick to changing hours? I've installed a used engine ECM and its hours don't match the rest of the machine. I guess the VIN is blown in permanently so can't be changed, but surely the hours can be, at least in Factory mode?

You can save the factory password screen and post it here or pm me with it i or someone might be able to give you pass.

Note: changing engine serial number also requires factory password and some engines you need to calibrate the timing reference into the ecm. Therefore you need to make the timing calibration tool ready when changing engine serial number .

RE: ET 2017A
The factory password keygen is posted in another thread by srt, but thanks.

On this 299D2 I was able to set the VIN in the machine ECM with no factory password, but then my ET is in Factory mode. (OP, here) In fact ET refused to flash the blank machine ECM until I'd set the VIN in it. (refused to flash a "generic" ECM) As soon as I set the VIN it magically presented as the ECM for a 299D2 instead of generic.

But the .xml config file containing the machine as-built config from the factory then would not set about half the parameters without factory passwords. (which I gave it -- it required five different pairs) I just don't understand why in Factory mode ET still requires factory passwords.

As to timing, the machine cranks but will not start. I suspect bad fuel as it starts with ether in the breather. I tried the governor calibration but it failed... this calibration applies only if it's a Delco governor, but it does not say how to determine that. I didn't find a calibration for timing. I did load the as-built config but that was for the machine ECM not the engine ECM. I have loaded the injector files but there also seem to be cylinder files which I don't understand. And I can't find where/how to set engine hours. It may be a {Ctrl}click or some other special key combo.
